Prophet Ya'qūb ﷺ (also known as Isrā'īl, meaning "servant of Allah") was the son of Isḥāq ﷺ and the grandson of Ibrāhīm ﷺ. He had twelve sons — the founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. His beloved son was Yūsuf ﷺ.
The greatest trial of Ya'qūb ﷺ was the apparent loss of his beloved son Yūsuf — thrown into a well by his jealous brothers, who then deceived their father with Yūsuf's blood-stained shirt. Ya'qūb ﷺ wept so much that he lost his eyesight, yet he maintained his patience and trust in Allah. Decades later, they were reunited in Egypt — and his sight was restored when Yūsuf's shirt was placed over his face.
