Prophet Hūd ﷺ was sent to the people of 'Ād — a powerful, advanced civilisation of the Arabian Peninsula (modern-day Yemen/Oman region). They were physically imposing, built great structures, and were blessed with fertile land and abundance — yet they were arrogant and rejected monotheism.
Hūd ﷺ called them to abandon idol worship and return to Allah. The leaders rejected him mockingly. Allah sent a devastating windstorm that destroyed the 'Ād completely over 7 nights and 8 days. Hūd ﷺ and his small band of followers were saved.
