Prophet Lūṭ ﷺ was the nephew of Ibrāhīm ﷺ. He was sent to the people of Sodom (Qawm Lūṭ) — a people who had fallen into the gravest immorality: sexual transgression with the same sex, open lewdness, and robbery. He called them to purity and monotheism for years.
His own wife sided with the disbelievers. When the angels arrived in the form of handsome young men, the people of Sodom tried to assault them. Lūṭ ﷺ desperately protected his guests. The angels then revealed their identity and commanded Lūṭ ﷺ to leave with his family before dawn. A devastating punishment rained down — the entire cities were overturned and pelted with stones of baked clay.
