Prophet Idrīs ﷺ was among the early descendants of Adam ﷺ. He is widely believed to be among the first to write with a pen, to study the stars, and to teach mankind skills of civilisation including sewing, mathematics, and astronomy. He called his people to worship Allah alone and live righteously.
Allah ﷻ raised him to a high station — the Quran describes him as being "raised to a high place" (rafa'naahu makaanan 'aliyyaa). Many scholars identify him with Enoch of the Biblical tradition. He was known for his intense worship and steadfast patience.
