Prophet Yaḥyā ﷺ (John the Baptist) was the son of Zakariyyā ﷺ — born miraculously to elderly parents. He was given wisdom as a child and grew up as an ascetic, deeply devout, gentle, and humble. The Quran describes him as "confirming the Word of Allah" — i.e. confirming 'Īsā ﷺ as a prophet.
He was known for his remarkable purity of character from birth. Allah granted him peace on the day he was born, the day he would die, and the day he would be resurrected. He was martyred by the tyrant ruler Herod Antipas — making him a prophet of profound piety who died as a shahīd (martyr).
