Prophet Nūḥ ﷺ was sent to a people who had completely abandoned monotheism and turned to idol worship. He preached to them for an extraordinary 950 years, inviting them to Allah with patience, wisdom, and unwavering resolve — day and night, in public and in private.
Despite his immense effort, only a small number believed. Even his own son and wife rejected him. Allah commanded him to build the Ark (Safinat Nūḥ), and when the great flood came, the disbelievers were drowned. Nūḥ ﷺ, the believers, and pairs of animals were saved.
After the flood, the Ark rested on Mount Judi. Nūḥ ﷺ and the survivors repopulated the earth — he is thus called the "second father of mankind" and the entire human race today descends from his three sons: Sam, Ham, and Yafeth.
