- Quote the hadith with the book it comes from, as Imam an-Nawawi does for every one of the Forty.
- If you are giving the meaning rather than the exact words, say so.
- Do not draw rulings from a hadith on your own. Refer questions of ruling to people of knowledge.
- Teach what you have understood and lived. Your conduct is the first lesson people take from you.
